WE ARE NB - Official 2024 NB ZOO T-Shirt (Available in-Person Only)

Legend has it, THE ZOO began back in the 1950's.  A Student Section like no other.  True Pioneers.  Before the likes of the Camron Crazies, the Paint Crew, the Octagon of Doom, or the Oakland Zoo, there was the New Brighton ZOO!

When you walked into New Brighton's famous Dawes Gym you knew you were in for a couple hours of entertainment.  It was not going to be easy.  A perfect compliment to WPIAL Championship teams.
In the 1980's, the legend grew.  The ZOO became larger and yes, rowdier than ever before. We're talking togas, sh*t-kickers, newspapers (for when opposing cheerleaders had the court).  An inspirational piece to winning.   And in the event of a rare loss, yeah, your bus was getting bricked. 
🗣"GET A ROPE, GET A TREE... HANG THE %*#!% REFEREE!"
One of many chants that would echo off the gymnasium walls.  These guys were shrude. And extremely CRAZY!  Ignorant, Obnoxious, and LOUD!  When Chris Pipkin would wind up a windmill dunk, the ZOO made sure you saw it, and that you knew another one was coming soon! 
"Would they travel? Would they travel?  Oh yeah, the ZOO would travel.  They were UNBOHLIEVABLE!" (Que the Chuck Forsythe voice).  Blackhawk Christmas Tournaments, guaranteed no less than 50 ZOO Members were showing up for the takeover.  One year, Pipkin scored 33, 44, & 55 in consecutive nights.  The Z00 was all witnesses.  Thats on my momma! (and yours).   Work boots, army fatigue, sunglasses.  There was always a theme.  No gym was safe!  
The 90's ZOO introduced bakers caps, leather coats, ski goggles and more.  The Legendary "Z" hats came to life.  They were characters.  You might see 15 bicycles outside the gym.  Some fans would even turn around and go home before the opening jump-ball.  Refs would schedule their vacation days around New Brighton home games.  Players families would bring uncles, aunts, gram and pap.  Sellout crowds were the usual.  The pep band would play.  It was A SHOW!  WBVP loved 'em!
After the 90s, rumor has it the bleacher-demolishing, radio friendly ZOO members sold their camels and began to slowly fizzle out. 
Until now.  In 2024, it's time to BRING EM BACK!  Every good team needs a good student section.  New Brighton, the time has come, WINNING IS BACK and so comes the tradition of The ZOO.  The culture change resurrection is re-introducing these Official ZOO Shirts!  Get yours and begin a new era of assisting in banner-hanging festive antics.  Build your own legacy.
